A 09:00 morning standup in San Francisco happens at 22:30 the same day in Mumbai during January. In July, that same 09:00 call shifts to 21:30. The half-hour offset never moves, but the Pacific clock does.
Pick a time in PST or PDT. The live clocks show which one is active right now, and the IST equivalent appears instantly. Use the hour-by-hour table below to scan a full day. For reverse conversion, swap the inputs.
Why is India 13.5 hours ahead of PST?
IST is locked to UTC+5:30. India does not observe daylight saving time. PST is locked to UTC−8 during standard time. The math is fixed: 13 hours and 30 minutes.
If it is 08:00 in Los Angeles in January, it is 21:30 the same day in Mumbai. No exceptions. No seasonal drift.
PDT to IST: India is 12.5 hours ahead. From the second Sunday of March to the first Sunday of November, Pacific switches to UTC−7. The gap shrinks by one hour. 08:00 in July in San Francisco becomes 20:30 in Bangalore.
Is it PST or PDT right now?
- PST (UTC−8) applies from the first Sunday of November until the second Sunday of March.
- PDT (UTC−7) applies the rest of the year.
In 2026, clocks spring forward to PDT on 8 March at 02:00 local, and fall back to PST on 1 November at 02:00 local. In 2027, the dates are 14 March and 7 November.
When you see "PT" or "Pacific Time" on a meeting invite, it usually means whatever is currently in effect. Verify anyway. Many calendars and emails still display "PST" during summer months when PDT is the correct term. If you see "PST" in a July calendar entry, treat it as PDT unless you confirm otherwise.
Common PST to IST conversions
| Pacific Time (PST/PDT) | India Time (IST) |
|---|---|
| 00:00 PST | 13:30 IST |
| 06:00 PST | 19:30 IST |
| 09:00 PST | 22:30 IST |
| 12:00 PST | 01:30 IST (next day) |
| 00:00 PDT | 12:30 IST |
| 06:00 PDT | 18:30 IST |
| 09:00 PDT | 21:30 IST |
| 12:00 PDT | 00:30 IST (next day) |
Why does the PST to IST converter show a 30-minute offset?
IST is UTC+5:30, not UTC+6 or UTC+5. That half-hour is why the conversion is 13.5 hours, not a round number. A 09:00 meeting in Seattle does not land on a half-hour in Delhi. It lands at 22:30 during PST, or 21:30 during PDT. Set your calendar to the exact minute, not the nearest hour.
When does the PST to IST gap change?
Pacific Time changes twice a year. India never changes. This means:
- During PST (winter): add 13.5 hours to get IST.
- During PDT (summer): add 12.5 hours to get IST.
The transition weeks are the riskiest. On the day Pacific springs forward, a recurring 09:00 PST meeting that was 22:30 IST suddenly becomes 21:30 IST when PDT takes effect. Double-check any meeting scheduled across the second Sunday of March or the first Sunday of November.
Quick reference for your calendar:
| If Pacific is... | Add this to get IST |
|---|---|
| PST (Nov, Mar) | 13 hours 30 minutes |
| PDT (Mar, Nov) | 12 hours 30 minutes |
India does not observe DST. The offset from IST never changes.
